There can be no disputing the fact that the 'Golden Age' of Rock'n'Roll began in 1955 and it changed the face of Popular music over the following decade. A tragic event occurred during the early hours of February 3rd 1959, when a light aircraft in which Buddy Holly was flying, crashed, costing him his life. Buddy was just 22 years of age, but he was already a legend in the world of Pop music. Don McLean, in his now classic recording of 'American Pie', lamented Buddy's untimely death, convinced that it marked the day the music died. As tragic as Buddy's death was, the music did not die. Many others, influenced by Buddy, took up the torch. In Britain we had names like Marty Wilde, Billy Fury, Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Craig Douglas, and later, The Beatles, while in America Elvis, Rick Nelson, The Everly Brothers, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Darin, Fats Domino and many others who went on to become legends in their own right left us with a vast catalogue of music which has a timeless quality to it.
Daniel has given us numerous albums exploring a wide range of genres, but he has an abiding love and understanding of the music which played such a big part in the lives of countless teenagers, right around the world, and three albums he has released so far leave us in no doubt that he has no intention of allowing the music from the rock'n'roll years to be forgotten.
In 2003 Daniel released the first of three CDs in which he took a long, nostalgic look back at the 'Golden Age' of Rock'n'Roll. Daniel In Blue Jeans tipped its hat to legends like Elvis, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Johnny Mathis and others, reviving classic songs like 'Love Me Tender', 'Blueberry Hill', 'Bye Bye Love', 'Save The Last Dance For Me', 'Wooden Heart' 'Green Green Grass Of Home'; twenty memorable songs presented in Daniel's inimitable style.
The success of Daniel In Blue Jeans was all that was needed to follow it up in 2004 with the equally popular Juke Box Years. Again we find legends like Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Rick Nelson, The Drifters, Neil Diamond, The Monkees and The Beatles being remembered through songs like 'Hello Mary Lou', 'Oh Boy', 'Girl Of My Best Friend', 'Sweet Caroline', 'Let's Dance' and a beautiful duet with Mary Duff, 'Walk Right Back' among the 20 timeless gems.
Once again, Juke Box Years proved so successful that, by popular demand, Daniel recorded the third album in what was to become a trilogy, Teenage Dreams. Who can forget such enduring classics as 'Calendar Girl', 'All My Loving', 'Heartbeat', 'Poetry In Motion', 'Let's Twist Again', 'Da Doo Ron Ron', and 'Rhythm Of The Rain', to mention just a handful of the 20 evergreen numbers?
Now, for the first time, these three albums, in their original form, are to be released as a 3 CD Box Set, a fantastic 60 song collection, hand picked by Daniel, from a period which went a long way in shaping Popular music. Fans who bought the original albums at the time they were released should be aware that there are no 'bonus tracks' included, so they must decide whether to invest in this collection and have all three great albums, in a single package. Daniel's revival of the great age of rock'n'roll has helped to keep this wonderful music, and the names of those who created it, alive. One can be left in no doubt that this style of music has had a great influence on him, and his interpretation of the songs is truly admirable. ROSBOXCD30
